Chips are a common Tesla complaint.
Ask around Tesla owner groups and “soft paint” and rock chips come up a lot. We won’t pretend to measure one brand’s paint against another’s. What we can tell you is where chips land on any car: the front bumper, the leading edge of the hood, the fenders and the mirror caps. Those are exactly the areas the packages below are built around.
Film is a clear polyurethane layer that takes the hit so the paint underneath doesn’t. It protects the finish that’s there now, so the best time is before the first chip, not after.

Caring for film on your Tesla
- Wait out the first wash. Follow the wash timing we give you, and be patient with it in winter.
- Keep the pressure washer back. Never closer than 36 inches to the film, and it matters most on fresh edges.
- Get the bad stuff off. Bug splatter, bird droppings and winter road chemicals are the film’s worst enemies. Wash them off soon.
- Top it with wax or ceramic. A coating over the film helps keep it looking new.
- No ice scrapers on film. Use a soft snow brush and don’t pick at edges.

Which PPF package is best for a Model 3 or Model Y?
For a daily driver that sees highway miles, Partial Front and Full Front End are the two to compare. Partial Front covers the bumper, the first 22 inches of the hood, partial fenders and mirror caps. Full Front End films the whole hood and fenders, so there’s no film line across the hood, and adds headlights, pillars and door edges. We look at the car with you and recommend what fits how you drive.
Can you put PPF on a Cybertruck?
The Cybertruck’s body is unpainted stainless steel, and our five packages are written for painted panels. Call us at (970) 292-6817 to talk through what you want protected before you book.
Can I put a ceramic coating over the film on my Tesla?
Yes. Ceramic layers over film well, and as an Authorized XPEL Installer we can coat paint and film together with XPEL Fusion Plus. See ceramic coating and paint correction.
Will I be able to see the film on my Tesla?
Mostly you’ll see the edges. Installed correctly, the film is very hard to spot. With wrapped edges and full coverage it disappears; partial coverage will show an edge.
Do you install at my home or at a Tesla delivery center?
No. Every install happens at our shop at 551 N Denver Ave in Loveland. KCL Creations does not offer mobile service; the film goes on indoors, in a clean, controlled space.
